John K. Hagopian, 77 passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Saturday, September 22, 2018 at Mercy House, Endicott, NY. John was a graduate of Valley Forge Military Academy in Valley Forge, PA and Clarkson University with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering. He spent many years running his business HE Consultants in Binghamton as a professional engineer. Of his greatest projects that he was proud of was the construction of the Floyd L. Maines Veterans Memorial Arena. He was also very proud of his engineering work on nearly every bridge leading into New York City and spent many years on projects in that area. He was a fierce warrior, still climbing bridges at 77 years old. John was a member of Ducks Unlimited and enjoyed his second home on the St. Lawrence River where he enjoyed racing his Checkmate boat, "Dreamchaser", where locals gave him the nickname "Crazy John". He also spent time as a navigator for Eye Rock Marine racing offshore power boats on the East Coast. Above all, he loved his children and grandchildren and his dog Zeus. He was fortunate to enjoy many weekends with family and friends at the St. Lawrence River and those times will be forever treasured by his family. John was predeceased by his parents John (Blackie) Hagopian and Mary Levonik Hagopian, his long time partner Carin Webb and his beloved sister, Ruby Cassidy. He is survived by his wife Carol Pardini-Hagopian of the U.K., daughter Kelly(Edward) Michalek, son John G. Hagopian and his partner Luke Mikels, step daughter Suzin Webb and his wife's children Wayne(UK), Lara(South Africa) and Anthony (Rochester NY). He is also lovingly survived by his grandchildren Brandon O'Brien and Natalie O'Brien and his sisters Grace Hagopian Biilmann (Claus), Margaret Hagopian Slack (Pete) and Melanie Hagopian Francavillo (Bobby) and several nieces and nephews. The family gratefully acknowledges the staff of Mercy House for their care and compassion bestowed during this difficult time. A Funeral Mass will be offered at St. Vincent de Paul Blessed Sacrament Church, Clubhouse Road, Vestal, Thursday at 10 a.m. The family will receive friends at the J. A. McCormack Sons Funeral Home, 141 Main Street, Binghamton, Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in John's memory may be made to Mercy House of the Southern Tier, 212 N.
