Obituary of Kevin P. Halaburka

Please share a memory of Kevin to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Kevin Halaburka, 56, passed away unexpectedly on September 17, 2018. He was predeceased by his father, Michael Halaburka, and several aunts, uncles and cousins. He is survived by his loving mother, Stella Halaburka, his brothers James Halaburka (Brenda) and Michael Halaburka (Denise), and his sister Linda Halaburka. He is also survived by his nieces Tanya Loomis (Steve) and Emma Halaburka, his great-nephew Ian Loomis, his aunt Renee Clark, his uncle Mickey Stasukevich, and many cousins. Kevin worked at a variety of jobs under the auspices of ARC and Achieve. The family thanks them and their many dedicated employees, especially Bernie Yerabek, Vivian Ciotoli and Eileen Foley, for all of the support, assistance and care they provided over the years. Thanks also to Dr. Frank Smith, Dr. Maryann Modrak, and Dr. John Bertini for their care of Kevin, and to the palliative medicine team and the staff on South Tower 4 at Wilson Hospital. Thank you to the many staff members at Willow Point Nursing Home and at Franziska Racker who cared so much for Kevin. Kevin had a wonderful sense of humor that he shared with everyone. He was a real joker who brightened everyone's day. He had a love of slapstick comedy and would roar with laughter at the films of Laurel and Hardy, the Three Stooges, and Abbott and Costello. He was a fountain of information about movie, television and sports trivia and statistics. Some of Kevin's fondest memories were of his many trips to Walt Disney World. He was also a big fan of the B-Mets and Binghamton's hockey teams. He attended their home games for many years and was the proud recipient of Rocky's Award for Outstanding Team Spirit in 1997. He also enjoyed listening to and singing along with the music of the Beatles and the oldies. He was quite the twister! Kevin was a sweet and gentle soul who was loved by everyone who knew him. Donations in his memory may be made to the Alzheimer's Association. At the request of the family, there will be no calling hours. A remembrance service will be held at a later date.
