Obituary of Robert J. O'Hara
Please share a memory of Robert to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Robert (Bob) John O'Hara, 78, died peacefully on Tuesday, September 18th. He was predeceased by his parents Tom and Julia O'Hara. He is survived by his devoted wife of 54 years, Roseanne O'Hara, daughter, Kelley O'Hara, sons, Robert and Patrick, daughter-in-laws, Jennifer O'Hara and Nicole Aime, 4 grandchildren, Ian Patrick O'Hara, Hogan Patrick O'Hara, Kalyn Aime O'Hara, Braden Patrick O'Hara, and siblings Mary O'Hara, Thomas O'Hara, Gerald O'Hara, James O'Hara, Edward O'Hara, Joseph O'Hara and Julia O'Hara Murphy. Bob graduated from Vestal High School and Broome Community College. His career path allowed him to pursue several businesses with his brothers until ultimately finding his career calling in real estate. Bob founded and launched O'Hara real estate with guidance from his friend and mentor, where over the span of 45 years he successfully helped families fulfill dreams, aid the local business economy and provide support to his local community. Bob proudly served in and supported the United States Marine Corps, was a member of the Broome County Board of Realtors, Vestal Rotary Club, and St. Vincent De Paul Blessed Sacrament Church. He enjoyed and passed time with his love of golf. He loved to both watch and play golf especially on his Wednesday tee times. These outings are where he said he always felt closest to God as that is where he talked to him the most. Bob was a loving husband, father and devoted family man. His approach to life was contagious with his head first enthusiasm. Yet at the same time he never missed a chance to stop and enjoy what rewards life brought with those around him. His larger than life presence, wonderful boisterous laugh, wit and his genuine nature will be greatly missed but never forgotten. The family wishes to thank the team at Lourdes and the transplant staff at Johns Hopkins where they changed not only Bob's life, but many others. A Funeral Mass will be offered at St. Vincent de Paul Blessed Sacrament Church, Clubhouse Road, Vestal, Friday at 11 a.m. In celebration and remembrance, the family will receive family and friends at the Ancient Order of Hibernians, 148 Main Street, Binghamton at 1:00. The family wishes that in lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Dr. Edward S. Kraus Endowment Fund for Young Investigators. This group has helped make amazing strides in helping kidney and pancreas transplant donors and recipients.
