Dear Clive and kids, I only met you once at my husbands' Peter Waldron father funeral in Toronto in 1993, we had a short visit, but clearly remember meeting you and Rita at that time, Peter said that the last he had seen you when your family went back to England in the 1960's when you were both about 9-11 years old. Peter had some contact recently with Rita through Facebook a few years back, but had to break off contact due to Pandoras' poor judgement in revealing family information to the world!.Peter is away from Halifax serving with the Canadian Army 36 Brigade Headquarters staff overseas , but we just learned of Rita through Peters' brother Brian.

Clive and Rita, you were two of our first friends on moving to Birmingham, U.K. , when all four of us were starting out in our careers. Phil was happy to stand as Clive's best man at your wedding, but is still embarrassed by his reading of all the family greetings ; the wonderful Irish names were beyond him. But Rita's family embraced and welcomed us.
This was Rita's way too. Welcoming and caring. We remember her as a gentle, caring lady, who loved her family and friends. We laughed a lot together in the few years Clive and Rita were in the U.K. and were thrilled to be welcomed to Binghamton on a visit in the 1990s.
So although we are saddened by Rita's passing we smile at our memories of her.

Dearest Rita, a wonderful friend for so many years though not together so much for some time now; I will always remember you for your thoughtfulness and your wry sense of humor and your generosity of spirit. I have known Rita since our University days in England. I first met her in 1973 or 1974 when I went to stay with my brother, Clive, at Leeds University. Her kindness and generosity were legend. I received many mystery parcels from her over the years containing miscellaneous gifts. For example, I particularly enjoyed the table mats with arty pictures of fruit and veg that she had found in a New York Gallery and which I used for many years until they wore out. It was still a joy to receive the more bizarre items she sent and at least the local charity shops benefitted. I will also miss the quirky clips she found on the internet and posted for her friends to enjoy.
It was a joy to have her all to myself when she stayed with me after visiting her mother. Rita loved a curry and we enjoyed a curry at my local Indian restaurant and stayed up late talking despite having to get up early to catch her flight back from Manchester airport.
The words that the brothers in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Joseph sing, “There is one more angel in heaven, one more star in the sky” are perhaps over the top but Rita was always good company and a friend as well as my sister-in-law. RIP dear Rita.

Rita, no words are enough to express the hole in the world left by your passing, too soon. You were an amazing friend, a partner in so many adventures at school and Girl Scouts, etc. You were full of life and joy and I will miss you every day. That infectious joy is a great gift that will remain with Clive, Frances and James and with their memories will keep you with them always. Clive, James and Frances, you know your mom/wife was selfless and amazing and touched everyone she met and loved you completely. Rita was one in a million. I always enjoyed chats with her. She was a kind and positive personality. She would always make me laugh with her funny stories and quick wit. I loved being on her team for trivia night. When I was looking back through the New York City pictures, I had to chuckle because she had gotten a hold of my camera and took the most random things, like the side of a taxi cab because she was fascinated at how much it cost for a ride. But I appreciated every picture that she took! She was a terrific lady and will be sorely missed. My condolences to you all.

Rita was my dear friend. She loved her kids and her community, even though her first home was England. She served hours and hours and hours at her children's schools, their activities, and her church. She drove many, many miles to support their arts and sports. She was an amazing mom! She loved to garden, she loved to talk, she loved to walk, she loved to make quirky jokes with her English sense of humor and sarcasm. I could listen to her for hours, and have. We used to take walks together when we lived in New York. Our children played together every day. She was too young to die. I prayed for a cure, for healing, but that was not His plan. Rest in peace, Rita. I love you! My deepest condolences to the Morris family.
