John (Jack) Skojec, 77 of Binghamton died on July 5th after losing his battle with leukemia. He was predeceased by his parents Louis and Margaret, sister Joyce, daughter in law Laurie and beloved grandson, Joshua. He was a graduate of Johnson City HS and Broome Tech. He proudly served in the US Navy during the Cold War era. He retired from IBM Endicott after a 33 year career as a well-respected project manager. He enjoyed golfing (especially with Bob Butchko) and meeting with his Thursday morning breakfast buddies. He also enjoyed watching the Yankees and the Giants. He was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Church Choir, Binghamton and then St. Vincent de Paul Blessed Sacrament Church choir where he enjoyed the company of many dear friends. His greatest joy in life was his family. He was a devoted husband for nearly 53 years to the love of his life, Sue. A loving and supportive father to John, Jim (Nancy), Rick (Michelle), Dave (Trudi) and Jeanne Drayton (Christopher). Also a doting grandpa to Jeffrey, Tommy, Emmett, Bridget, Greg, Lucas, Jaden and Cameron. He is also survived by his loving sister, Peg (Carl) Hoffer, brothers Bob (Rita), Marty (Linda), and Lou (Pam), Brothers in Law Jim (Audrey) and Mike (Gail) Place, as well as many beloved nieces, nephews and cousins. A special thank you to the staff of Broome Oncology and 1 Ross at Lourdes for their care and compassion. A Funeral Mass will be offered at ST. Vincent de Paul Blessed Sacrament Church, Clubhouse Road, Vestal, Monday at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Johnson City. The family will receive friends at the J.A. McCormack Sons Funeral Home, 141 Main Street, Binghamton, Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. Expressions of sympathy in Jack's memory may be made to Loaves and Fishes, 165 Clifton Boulevard, Vestal, NY 13850.
