Obituary of Melva L. Naylor
Please share a memory of Melva to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Melva L. Naylor, 83, formerly of Baldwinsville, NY, passed away Wednesday, May 30, 2018. She was predeceased by her parents, H. Russell and Olive Naylor; also several aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. She is survived by many cousins and "her friends and family by affection".
Melva was raised on her family farm in Baldwinsville, and always considered herself a farm girl. Her love of growing things, whether garden, yard or patio; and her fondness for animals (especially Mandy and CiCi), and participation in The Grange, were important to her. Melva was a graduate of Baldwinsville High School, SUNY Plattsburgh and University of Washington, Seattle. She is a retired librarian from Four County Library System in Vestal. Melva's work as a librarian stemmed from her love of books, enjoyment of storytelling and evolved into a keen interest in genealogy. Melva has traveled throughout her life, and especially liked all things Irish and lighthouses. Traveling with seniors and her involvement in Red Hats were a joy for her. Family and friends fondly recall the vitality she added to conversations and life. A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, June 19, 2018, 11:00 a.m. at Hilltop Campus, The United Methodist Homes, 286 Deyo Hill Road, Johnson City, NY. Burial will be at Riverview Cemetery in Baldwinsville at a later date. "In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in her memory to an animal welfare charity of your choice."
