JOHNSON CITY - Beverly E. (Eckelberger) Skapik, of Johnson City, NY passed away, surrounded by her family, on Sunday May 20, at the age of 85.

She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Joseph P. Skapik, Sr. and her parents Paul and Bertha Eckelberger. Beverly is survived by her children: Paula Jo (Daddy’s Girl) and Timothy Deats; Joseph (The Golden Boy) and Suzanne Skapik; and Bridget (The Favorite) and Gerry Ponterio; her grandchildren Crystal and Alex Perkow, Adam and June Skapik, Nicholas and Lauren Ponterio, Killian and LeAnne Deats, Abby Ponterio and Molly Jo Deats; five great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Mom was our confidant, our fiercest defender, and our greatest champion. She was the knower of all things, the family historian, the mender of all wounds, able to create just about anything, and did not dish out nearly as much as she had to take in the joke department. She taught us about life and how to live it with grace and piety. And she prepared us for her passing in her own words, “It’s been a long journey but it’s time to go home” Dad has been waiting a long time for his polka partner. Godspeed Mom.
