Earl D. Goltry, 76, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, February 21st, surrounded by family. He was predeceased by his parents, George and Florence Goltry, his brother George Goltry, sister Shirley Roberts and niece Karen Lewis. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Suzann (Boigeol) Goltry, his daughter Tammi Goltry and son Craig and daughter-in-law Karen Goltry. He is also survived by grandchildren Zac and Blake Goltry; brother Carl Goltry; sister-in-law Ellen Goltry; niece Sharon Ossont and husband Rich, close friend Chris Sandy and a number of relatives and lifelong friends. He played several sports at Dundee High School, including his favorite sport, baseball, where he won the state championship before trying out for the minor leagues. Earl had also previously held a state record for men's track for several years. He then went on to become the meat supervisor at Giant Markets where he worked for 42 years. He was a lifelong member of the Elks #1977. He loved the time he spent at his cottage on Owasco Lake, boating and fishing with his family and close friends. His favorite activities included taking trips to the beach with Sue, spending time with his grandsons, going to horse races, playing at casinos, and cheering on his favorite sports teams to include the Yankees, Giants, Syracuse basketball, and Florida State football. He enjoyed attending the Masters, Kentucky Derby, and Daytona 500, with his son and joking back and forth with his daughter. Earl will be remembered as a genuinely nice, fun-loving guy who put his family and friends first. Funeral Services will be held at the J. A. McCormack Sons Funeral Home, 141 Main Street, Binghamton, Monday at 9:30 a.m., Reverend John Pooler will officiate. Burial will be in Vestal Hills Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the McCormack Funeral Home, Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m.
