Obituary of Michael J. Reynolds

Michael J. Reynolds went to be with his beloved Betty on August 12, 2013. He was the son of the late Arleigh and Mary (Delaney) Reynolds of Binghamton, NY. He graduated from St. Patrick's Academy, Harpur College, Barry University, and SUNY Albany (EDd). Michael was proud to serve in the United States Marine Corps retiring as a Lt. Colonel. He was Dean of Students at Broome Technical College (Binghamton) and Middlesex County College (Edison, NJ), where he helped establish the college. He was Vice Chancellor of the SUNY Central Administration Staff until his retirement in 1989. Michael was a communicant of St. Edward's Church, Clifton Park, NY. His family was the center of his life. An avid gardener, he enjoyed spending time outdoors with his beagles and other animals. Michael is survived by his children, Anne (Carl) Reynolds Copps of Clifton Park, NY, Arleigh J. (Donna) Reynolds of Salcha, Alaska, and Mary E. Goliber of Saratoga Springs, NY; grandchildren Casey (Jeffrey) Copps DiPaola, Heather Liz Copps, Cheyenne Reynolds, Michael Reynolds, Jay Reynolds, Mia Reynolds, Jack Goliber, Clare Goliber, and Grace Goliber; and great grandson, Noah Reynolds. He is also survived by his siblings David J. (Kathy) Reynolds, Edwin J. (Anne) Reynolds, William J. (Mary) Reynolds, and Kathleen (Art) Chambers; sister-in-law, Sharon Reynolds; and brother-in-law, John (Kathy) Case; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife of 55 years, Betty A. Reynolds and his brother, Richard J. Reynolds. Michael and Betty were proud to have helped to raise his sister Kathleen and always considered her children, Kelly (Matt) Wronko and Katie (Tom) Bierworth to be their grandchildren. His family gratefully acknowledges the compassionate care give to Michael by the HomeInstead staff, particularly Brenda MacElroy and Jean Hartsone, as well as our dear neighbor, Cathy Getz, which allowed him to stay at home as long as possible. In addition, the family thanks the C-3 staff at Glendale Home and Hospice. A Funeral Mass will be offered at St. Patrick's Church, Binghamton, Friday at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Johnson City. The family will receive friends at the J.A. McCormack Sons Funeral Home, 141 Main St., Binghamton, on Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in memory of Michael may be made to Hospice of Schenectady, 1411 Union St. Schenectady, NY 12308.
