Lucy Durkot, 91, went home to the Lord on January 13, 2018 surrounded by her family. Lucy was born in Binghamton on June 17, 1926 and will be remembered for her devotion to the Lord and her love and dedication to family. Lucy was predeceased by her loving husband of 40 years, William; beloved son, David; parents Anthony and Amelia (Mollie) Palombaro; and brother Carlo Palombaro. She is survived by her children, Deborah (Albert) Vanek and Beverly (Mark) Bucher, daughter-in -law, Karla Durkot; grandchildren Jordan and Olivia Vanek and Jake and Patrick Bucher; sisters Rose Flederbach and Frances Napierala, sister-in-law Betty Durkot, and many nieces and nephews. She was a lifelong member of The Parish of Saints John and Andrew. Lucy retired as a Commercial Loans Operation Officer at Marine Midland Bank and following retirement, worked at Summit Dental Arts in Binghamton. She was a member of Binghamton General Hospital Auxiliary and volunteered many years at the hospital. Her family extends its gratitude to the caregivers at Good Shepherd at Endwell Memory Unit for their compassion and care. A Funeral Mass will be offered at the Church of Saints John and Andrew, Vestal Avenue, Binghamton, Thursday at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Johnson City. The family will receive friends at the J.A. McCormack Sons Funeral Home, 141 Main Street, Binghamton, Wednesday from 5 to 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in Lucy's memory may be made to the Church of Saints John and Andrew, 7 Livingston Street, Binghamton, NY 13903.
