Charles T. Gilroy, 73, of Chenango Forks and Sandy Pond lost his bat tle with cancer Sunday, December 31, 2017 at Wilson Memorial Re gional Medical Center. He is survived by his wife Phyllis, sons Gary (Kathy) and Charles II (Sara); granddaughter Kylie; grandsons Charles III and Phineas; his brothers Leo (Margaret) and James (Susie); sis ters-in-law Linda (Tex) Hofsdal; Laura Meres and Joyce Maddalone; also several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents Leo Sr. and Mary Gilroy, Binghamton and in-laws Gilbert and Marguerite Meres, Delhi. Charles retired in 2005 after 44 years in the automotive business. He was an active member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians and enjoyed seeing his sons and grandchildren participate in the Binghamton St. Patrick's Parade as he proudly carried the Irish Flag. Charles was a life time member of the Sandy Pond Sportsman's Association where he volun teered and enjoyed the Friday golf outings. His greatest joy was the family vacations and boating at Sandy Pond. Charles dearly loved his family and will be missed. He and Phyllis traveled the United States, Ireland and Canada, took many cruises, snowmobiled NYS, Canada and Yellow stone Park, golfed and enjoyed the lake. Funeral Services will be held at the J.A. McCormack Sons Funeral Home, 141 Main Street, Binghamton, Saturday at 2 p.m. Rev. Timothy J. Taugher, will officiate. Burial will be in Vestal Hills Memorial Park at the convenience of the family. The family will receive friends at the McCormack Funeral Home, Saturday from 12 noon until 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in Charles' name may be made to the AOH Building Fund, 148 Main Street, Binghamton, NY 13905.
