Obituary of Ruth A. Telfer

Ruth A. Telfer, 85, of Owego died Thursday September 7, 2017 at Mercy House of the Southern Tier surrounded by her family after suffering from complications from heart surgery. She was predeceased by her parents Martin and Martha Hester and was the last surviving sibling of the Hester family. She is survived by her husband of 44 years, Ralph Telfer; her daughter Jackie and David Repp; her son Mark Telfer and his fiancé' Tracey Berry; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; her nephews John Fallon and Bob and Mary Simpson; also many other nieces, nephews and cousins. Ruth's career was with IBM Federal Systems in Owego. She started as a cable winder and culminated by becoming a pioneer of Administrative Systems. She resigned to become a wonderful homemaker. She was an outstanding porcelain painter and was famous for her raisin bread and other baked goods. The family would like to thank the staff at Mercy House for the compassionate care they provided to Ruth. A Funeral Mass will be offered at St. Patrick's Church, corner of Leroy and Oak Streets, Binghamton , Saturday at 9:30 a.m. Burial will be in St. Augustine's Cemetery, Silver Lake, PA. The family will receive friends at the J.A. McCormack Sons Funeral Home, 141 Main Street, Binghamton, Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. Expressions of sympathy in Ruth's name may be made to Mercy House of the Southern Tier, 212 N. McKinley Avenue, Endicott, NY 13760.
