Obituary of Mary E. DeSantis

Mary Ellen DeSantis, 84, of Apalachin, New York, passed away on Saturday, September 2, 2017. Born, February 14, 1933 in Binghamton, New York, she was the daughter of the late James and Helen Conklin. She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Gabriel DeSantis, two sons, David (Washington DC) and Thomas (Apalachin NY) and their respective spouses, Todd and Linda; four sisters, Jane, Betty, Celia and Louise, and many other relatives and friends. Mary held a number of interesting positions throughout her career including jobs at IBM Inc., the Broome County Court System and United Presbyterian Church of Binghamton. She was a long-time parishioner at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church in Vestal, New York where she taught religious education, and a member of the Ladies of Charity. Mary and Gabriel enjoyed travel and spent many happy days in Europe and throughout the United States, including time with friends in Vero Beach, Florida. A Funeral Mass will be offered at Our Lady of Sorrows Church, 801 Main Street, Vestal, Saturday at 11 a.m. Entombment will be in Riverhurst Cemetery, Endwell. The family will receive friends at Our Lady of Sorrows Church Saturday from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to the Broome County Humane Society, 167 Conklin Avenue, Binghamton, NY 13903.
