John King, 95, passed away on July 26th, at Good Shepherd Fairview, Binghamton NY. He was predeceased by Loretta, his loving wife of 67 years. Also by parents; Joseph and Helen King, along with sisters, Helen and Anna, and brother Joseph. He is survived by his son, Patrick of Pittsburg, CA; and granddaughter, Cristina of Oakland, CA. He is also survived by nephews; Brian King, Dan Haggerty, Jerry Haggerty, and Tim Haggerty. John's special niece, Mary Ellen Bronson, was like a daughter, especially during his last years of failing health. John and Loretta owned a home at Lake Lorain in Poyntelle, PA for 42 years, where they were active members of the Cottage Association and Golf Leagues. John was a proud veteran of the U.S. Coast Guard, a member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians and 45-year employee of Ozalid. He enjoyed golfing, swimming, his Sunfish sailboat, and hiking the countryside in search of mushrooms and princess pine. He loved Irish music and dancing and was a regular participant in the St. Patrick's Day Parade. John was a longtime member of St. Juliana Church in Rock Lake, PA. A Funeral Mass will be offered at the Church of Saints John and Andrew, Vestal Avenue, Binghamton, Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. Burial will be in St. Augustine's Cemetery, Silver Lake, PA. The family will receive friends at the J.A. McCormack Sons Funeral Home, 141 Main Street, Binghamton, Tuesday from 4 to 6 p.m. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in memory of John and his beloved dogs, Dutch and Tighe, may be made to the Broome County Animal Shelter, 110 Cutler Pond Road, Binghamton, NY 13905.
