Obituary of Richard R. Stoner

Richard Roland Stoner 74 of Binghamton passed away on Saturday July 15, 2017 at Mercy House in Endicott. He was previously deceased by his father Roland Stoner and his mother Vita Gebbia Stoner. Richard is survived by his younger brother Joseph Stoner of Bonita Springs, FL, nephew Matthew Stoner of Fairfax, VA, nieces Mary Stoner of Jamesville, NY and Elizabeth (Shawn) McBride of Endwell, NY, sister-in-law Joanne Marascia Stoner, grand nephews and nieces Aidan, Madeline, Cameron McBride and Antonio, Marco, Ella Vengoechea, and first cousins Marie Clark and Francene Guccia of Endicott NY, in addition to his grand nephew-dog Franklin. He was an English professor at Broome Community College from 1969-2005 after graduating from LeMoyne College and Colgate University. Before college he attended St. James in Johnson City and graduated from Seton High School in Endicott. After retiring from teaching, he became a master gardener and volunteered at Cutler Botanic Garden. Richard was an avid runner who completed several marathons, including multiple NYC Marathons and enjoyed New York City and the theatre arts with his close friends and family. Richard was an honorary member of the BCC math club lunch bunch.
