Mary Ellen (Reardon) Gavin, 88, of Endwell, passed away peacefully on May 30, 2017. She was predeceased by her loving husband of 51 years, Edward M. Gavin, parents, Gerald and Margaret Reardon, in-laws, Thomas and Lillian Gavin, sister, Shirley and Roger Gaffney and sister in law Jacqueline Reardon. Mary Ellen is survived by six children, James Gavin of Vernon, CT, Maureen Mulligan of Forty Fort, PA, Margaret and Lawrence Roefs, of Bainbridge, NY, Joseph and Teri Gavin of Endwell, NY, Ellen and Paul Tierney, of Exeter, RI, Theresa and Peter Russell, of Endwell, NY, and twelve grandchildren, Kyle, Kevin, Casey, Kalin, Kerri, Brendan, Katrien, Gavin, Shane, Erin, Gannon and Riley. She is also survived by a brother, Gerald Reardon of Venice, FL, brother-in-law Thomas and Bernice Gavin, of Kerrville, TX, several nieces and nephews and long-time best friend Barbara Hawley. Mary Ellen attended Binghamton Central High School. She worked at the telephone company for several years prior to becoming a homemaker to raise her six children. A founding member of Our Lady of Angels Church (now Church of the Holy Family), she belonged to the Alter Rosary Society and was an adoration adorer, devoted to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. Mary Ellen was a loving grandmother who spent her years surrounded by family and friends. She was an avid Yankees fan, who also loved angels, butterflies and all things Irish. She will be deeply missed by her adoring children and all who knew her. A special thank you to Father Clarence Rumble and the compassionate staff and volunteers at Mercy House. A Funeral Mass will be offered at the Church of the Holy Family, 3600 Phyllis Street, Endwell, Tuesday at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Johnson City. The family will receive friends at the J.A. McCormack Sons Funeral Home, 141 Main Street, Binghamton, Monday from 4 to 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in her name may be made to Mercy House of the Southern Tier, 212 N.
