Obituary of James E. Young

James E. Young, 77 of Binghamton, died Wednesday July 10, 2013. He was predeceased by his parents, John A. and Margaret B. Young and his mother-in-law, Angeline Phillips. He is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Janice Young; his children, Colin and Cathi Young, Shana Young, Margaret and Chris Gnad; step-son Leonard S. Horton; his grandchildren, Conor James, Cayleen Marie, Corey Jacob Young; a brother, John and Joan Young; brother-in-law, Norm Phillips; several nieces and nephews. Jim was a retired 35 year employee of NYS Department of Transportation. He was a US Army Veteran of the Korean War. Jim was an avid golfer and a member of Ely Park Golf Course and an active volunteer for the BC Open for many years. He was a dedicated and loving husband, father and grandfather. A Funeral Mass will be offered at St. Paul's Church, Binghamton Friday at 9:30 a.m. Burial will be in Chenango Valley Cemetery, Hillcrest. The family will receive friends at the J.A. McCormack Sons Funeral Home, 141 Main Street, Binghamton Thursday from 4-7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in memory of Jim may be made to the Alzheimer's Association , 401 Hayes Avenue, Endicott, NY 13760.
