Please share a memory of Mary to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Mary A. Stone of Chenango Bridge passed away peacefully at Wilson Memorial Regional Medical Center February 28, 2017 after a short illness at the age of 83. She was loved dearly by her devoted family and many, many friends. Mary was predeceased by her loving husband Jack Stone, daughter Linda Stone, son Robert Stone and brother Gerard Mahoney. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Donald (Colleen) Stone of North Syracuse; daughter and son-in-law Theresa (Bert) Lemack of New Hampshire; grandsons Christopher Stone of Florida and Michael (Katie) Stone of Virginia and their young daughter Hollis, Mary's first great grandchild and the apple of her eye. Mary is also survived by her loving sisters and brother-in-law Ruth and Harry Lewis, Kay Finch and sister-in-law Beverly Mahoney along with many devoted nieces and nephews. Born in Brackney, PA to Jeremiah and Mary Mahoney, Mary spent her early years on the family farm and she remained forever a country girl. Upon moving to Binghamton she graduated from Binghamton North High School and then worked at Link Division. She and Jack settled down to raise their 3 children. She later began a new chapter working for many years and eventually retiring from Chenango Valley High School. Working in the high school office, all who knew her still say that it was Mary who kept faculty, staff and students on track. She enjoyed having lunch with the "ladies from CV" up through this year. She was also a long time member of St. Francis of Assisi Parish and volunteered in many capacities. She was recognized throughout the diocese for her devotion to the church. Mary was also a vocal, lifelong Yankee fan and enjoyed friendly sparring with her son-in-law during Yankee-Red Sox games. Mary enjoyed cooking, gardening and getting together with the Mahoney clan. She will be greatly missed. A Funeral Mass will be offered at St. Francis of Assisi Church, Chenango Street, Hillcrest, Monday at 10 a.m. Burial will be in St. Augustine's Cemetery, Silver Lake, PA, Monday at 2 p.m. The family will receive friends at the J.A.
