John A. Dicembre, 72, of Owego, NY. passed away peacefully Monday evening, January 9, 2017 at Mercy House of the Southern Tier surrounded by his loving family. He was the son of the late Frank and Caroline Dicembre of New York City. He was also predeceased by a brother Frankie. John is survived by his wife of 38 Years, Jane (Owens) Dicembre; a son, Anthony J. Dicembre and fiancée Amy Gaines; a daughter and son in law, Jaclyn and Jason Zindell; 2 grandsons, Cameron and Gavin; also many loving cousins and beloved pets, Lucy and Kit Kat. He was a retired employee of the I.B.M. Corporation with 40 years of service. John's greatest joy in life was being a dad and grandpa. Family was everything to him. He never missed a soccer game, swim meet, little league game, school play or anything his children were involved in. John truly embraced his role as a grandfather when his grandsons arrived. For the last 5 years John took care of his grandson Gavin. They had quite a bond and were referred to as "Big Pa" and "Little Pa" because they spent so much time together. John was an avid NY Yankees, Jets and Rangers fan. The family would like to thank the staff at Lourdes Hospital 1 Ross, Lourdes Hospice, and the staff at Mercy House for the loving and compassionate care given to John. The family will receive friends at Jaclyn's home, 21 Adaline Street, Owego, Saturday January 21, 2017 from 2 to 7 p.m. Expressions of sympathy in memory of John may be made to Mercy House of the Southern Tier, 212 N. McKinley Avenue, Endicott, NY 13760, Lourdes Hospital Foundation (Hospice), 169 Riverside Drive, Binghamton, NY 13905, or an animal rescue organization of your choice.
