George L. Baxter, 68, passed away on December 28, 2016 after a long illness at his home. George was predeceased by his father, George L. Baxter Sr., and his mother Eleanor McGory-Baxter. George is survived by his loving wife and best friend of 46 1/2 years Sandra; his son Jeff, daughter Nicoline (Scott) Faber; grandchildren Courtney, Danielle and Ryan Faber; his sister Alice Woodward, and nephews Albert and Michael Woodward. George attended Binghamton Central High School and Broome Community College. George proudly served his Country in the United States Marine Corps. 1966-1970. He also served with the Army Corps of Engineering National Guard. George enjoyed going for long rides, going to the beach, and going to the casino. He enjoyed outdoor activities with his family or just hanging at home. He had a generous spirit, finding humor in most situations, making the biggest problems one of life's adventures. The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to Dr. Harris and Debbie Schaffer NP at Broome Oncology and Lourdes Hospice nurses, aides and others who assisted in making sure all of George's and his families needs were met, as well as family and friends who have gone above and beyond to provide comfort and support to the family. To our Father, husband, grandfather and friend, "we will see you in a minute". Memorial Services will be held at New Life Ministries, 201 Hill Avenue, Endicott, Wednesday at 6 p.m. Pastor Joe Wickman will officiate. The family will receive friends at New Life Ministries Wednesday from 4-6 p.m. Expressions of sympathy in memory of George may be made to the Humane Society, 2 Jackson Street, Binghamton, NY 13903 or Lourdes Hospice, 169 Riverside Drive, Binghamton, New York 13905
