Obituary of Elaine L Trucker

Elaine Trucker, 85, of Binghamton, passed away peacefully at her home on June 19, 2013. Elaine was predeceased by her beloved husband, Dr. Donald E. Trucker and her parents, Lillian E. and Frank M. Heiss, Jr. Elaine was a graduate of Jamaica High School and Adelphi College. She graduated from Adelphi in 1948 with a Bachelor of Science and a Degree in Nursing and was also a member of the Delta Zeta Sorority and the US Nurse Cadet Corps. On June 4, 1949, she married her soul mate, Donald; both having grown up in Queens Village, Long Island. As a registered nurse, Elaine worked as a school nurse at Brookside Elementary School for a number of years and was later employed at Liberty Mutual as a rehabilitation nurse. After leaving the insurance company, she worked for Dr. Yuh as a nurse/receptionist. She was a member of Trinity Memorial Episcopal Church. Elaine had many hobbies: she loved to sew and was a skilled seamstress, loved quilting and made treasured blankets for many of her family members and friends, loved gardening, flowers and birds and writing poetry. She was an avid cat lover and leaves behind her beloved Cinnamon. Elaine loved to travel and went on many trips with her husband, Donald. In her later years, she enjoyed going on her computer, keeping up with her grandchildren and family. She will be greatly missed. Elaine is survived by her two daughters: Patricia J. Payes and her husband Dr. William C. Payes of Vestal, NY and Joanne C. Trucker of Rutland, VT; a son, James D. Trucker of Endwell, NY; several grandchildren: Aaron T. Payes of Atlanta, GA, Adam D. Payes of Binghamton, NY, Arielle M. Payes of Boston, MA and Brendan M. Golubjatnikov of Boston, MA; a brother, Everett F. Heiss and his wife Ann F. Heiss of Pittsfield, MA and their children: Barbara and her husband Robert Goodwill of Dorchester, MA, Susan and her husband Robert McDermott of Gloucester, MA and Brian and his wife Syd from West Chester, MA and many other nieces and nephews. The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to her caregivers, Michelle and Amy, and to the Lourdes Hospital Hospice Staff for the loving care and support they provided to Elaine and her family. The family will receive friends at the J.A. McCormack Sons Funeral Home, 141 Main Street, Binghamton Wednesday June 26, 2013 from 12 noon until 2 p.m. Funeral and Interment services will follow at 2:30 p.m. in the Tower of Memories Chapel at Vestal Hills Memorial Park. The Reverend Dr. David A. Drebert, her rector, will officiate. Entombment will be in Vestal Hills Memorial Park. Expressions of sympathy in memory of Elaine may be made to the American Cancer Society , 13 Beech Street, Johnson City, NY 13790.
