MARY JOYCE ROGAN LYONS passed away October 20, 2016, surrounded by the love of her family. The daughter of Hazel and John Rogan, Mary grew up in Binghamton and was predeceased by her parents, her brother J. Richard Rogan, and her infant daughter Mary Theresa. She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Daniel Edwin Lyons; children, Martha Lyons of Johnson City, Daniel and Janet Lyons of Worcester, MA, Susan and Joseph Cox of North Kingstown, RI, and Barbara and Kevan Cole of Auburn, CA; grandchildren, Sarah and Ryan Colton, Connor and Patrick Lyons, Brian, Katie and Kevin Cox, Sara and Christopher Cole; great grandchildren, Madelyn and Harrison Colton; sisters in law, Eleanor Conlon and Judith Rogan Thomas, several beloved nieces and nephews and very special cousins. Known as Mary to friends and Joy as a child, Mary was a graduate of North High and the Wilson School of Nursing. She gave up her chosen career to raise her family but never lost her love for nursing and caring for others. She was a beloved wife, a wonderful mother and loved her role as grandmother. She traveled many miles to care for grandchildren. She loved to bake and many enjoyed her annual holiday cookie plates. She has enjoyed spending time in the Adirondacks for the last 46 years. Mary will be deeply missed by her family and friends. A Funeral Mass will be offered at St. Francis of Assisi Church, Chenango Street Hillcrest Friday at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Johnson City. The family will receive friends at the J.A. McCormack Sons Funeral Home, 141 Main Street, Binghamton Thursday from 4-7 p.m
