Eileen Susan Haley, 90, of Binghamton, New York, passed away on Thursday, September 29, 2016 surrounded by her loving family. She was a, "rock star for the generations," as noted by her friends of all ages. She was predeceased by her devoted husband of 50 years James F. Haley, Sr. and her grandson, Daniel Wax. She is survived by her sister, Sheila Moore and sisters-in-law, Kathleen Matthews and Patricia Pender. Eileen is also survived by her six children Kathleen Haley and Steven Wax, Bridget and Gary Conroy, James and Denise Haley, Sheila and Steven Kenny, John and Mary Beth Haley and Patrick and Janae Haley. She was a matriarch to grandchildren Kathryn and Michael Jaquin, Maura and Samuel Golden, Patrick Conroy, James F. Haley, III, Laura Haley, Emma K. Haley, Michael Haley Wax, McCayla Kenny, John Kenny, Haley Kenny, Meghan and Phillip Schofield, Martin Haley, William Haley, Emma L. Haley, Elizabeth Haley and Caroline Haley. She is also survived by her great grandchildren Molly Jaquin, Hannah Jaquin and Taylor Golden and beloved nieces, nephews and cousins, the Moore, Matthews, Canny and Kinney families Eileen spent most of her active life in Binghamton, N.Y. She was a proud alumnus of Binghamton Central High School, the University of Rochester and Columbia University. As a teacher for over 40 years, she educated children from kindergarten to high school at St. Thomas Aquinas and Chenango Forks Central Schools. She was a devoted member of the St. Thomas Aquinas Parish, UHS Pastoral Care volunteer for over 25 years and active in the Rosary Altar Society, St. Francis of Assisi Group and Ladies of Fatima. Her memberships in the Eastern Broome Retired Teachers Association, Rod Serling Memorial Foundation and A League of our Own Monday Morning Golf Group reflect her broad interests. An avid sports enthusiast, you could not call her when the Yankees were playing for they took priority. Traveling with her fellow "Snoop Sister", Sheila Moore was a cherished time for her. Hosting holidays, Derby Day, the Masters Sunday and Parade Day were some of the special gatherings at "Mom's." A Funeral Mass will be offered at St. Patrick's Church, corner of Oak and Leroy Streets, Binghamton (Due to Renovations at St. Thomas Aquinas Church) Monday at 10 a.m. Burial will be in St. Augustine's Cemetery, Silver Lake, Pa. The family will receive friends at the J.A. McCormack Sons Funeral Home, 141 Main Street, Binghamton Sunday from 2~5 p.m. Expressions of sympathy in memory of Eileen may be made to Samaritan House, 11 Fayette St. Binghamton, NY 13901 or Catholic schools of Broome County, 70 Seminary Avenue, Binghamton, NY 13905.
