Obituary of Helen L. Costello
Please share a memory of Helen to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Mrs. Terrence Costello, 91, died peacefully, at home and in the company of her daughter, Mary Ellen. She was predeceased by her exceptional husband, Terrence Costello, with whom she celebrated 59 years of marriage; her parents, John and Margaret Lynch; and her sister, Elizabeth (Eliot) Ferry. Helen is survived by 6 children: Margaret (John) Gavagan, Timothy (Elizabeth Spiro) Costello, Mary Ellen (Alvin) Lollie, Thomas (Sarolta DeFaltay) Costello, Colleen (Paul) Filiak, Ann Marie (David) Kettle; 14 grandchildren, Cara, Robert, Trystram, Shannon, Tia, Alvin, Terrence, Megan, Eric, Samantha, Kelly, Kristine, Chelsea, Malachy; 6 great grandchildren, Brayden, Ethan, Amelia, Sadie, Mary Clare, Meadow; and her very close supportive friend, Patricia (Heslin) Fox. Born last into a robust, Irish-Catholic clan, Helen enjoyed their company many, many years, and despite her repeated predictions to the contrary, she lived to be the last of her generation. Helen's family was her life, always. We, in turn, are so grateful for the nine decades of love shared. We will miss her. She was a member of the Church of Saints John and Andrew, Binghamton. A Funeral Mass will be offered at the Church of Saints John and Andrew, Vestal Ave., Binghamton on Friday June 24, 2016 at 10am. Burial will be in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Whitney Point. The family will receive friends at the J.A. McCormack Sons Funeral Home, 141 Main St., Binghamton on Thursday June 23rd from 4-6pm. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in memory of Helen may be made to the Scleroderma Foundation, Tri-State, 59 Front St., Binghamton, NY 13905.
