Obituary of Ruth C. Leach

Ruth C. Leach of Binghamton Born November 8th, 1938 – Died February 27, 2016 Ruth was born in Tupper Lake, NY. She graduated from St. Patrick's High School in 1957 and received a Bachelor's Degree from Harper College (now Binghamton University) and a Master's Degree in Education from Syracuse University. Ruth spent most of her career teaching foreign languages at Deposit Central High School where she was adored by both her colleagues and students for whom she cared deeply beyond academics. After her retirement, Ruth worked as an active volunteer at Binghamton General Hospital. Ruth was predeceased by her Father David Leach, her Mother Blanche Leach and her beloved dog Koyuk. She is survived by her brother Robert E. Leach, her sister in law Sharon A. Leach of Liverpool, NY and various cousins and their spouses on both sides of her family. She also leaves behind Richard Bello whom she considered to be her son and whom he considered her to be his Mother. Richard was present with Ruth during her final days and hours along with her beloved younger brother Robert. Ruth also had very deep and special friendships with many people whom she considered family whom were dear to her. She leaves behind Sharon McGlynn, Frances Spear, Alan Klump, Tred and Suzanne Burch all dear friends who have been very supportive to Ruth over the years. Ruth was an extremely compassionate human being who touched many lives very deeply. In addition to her students, Ruth was deeply passionate about animals and their welfare. A Funeral Mass will be offered at the Church of Saints John and Andrew, Vestal Ave., Binghamton, Tuesday at 11 a.m. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Johnson City. The family will receive friends at the J.A. McCormack Sons Funeral Home, 141 Main Street, Binghamton, Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, Ruth would have preferred a donation to those in need.
