Gary L. Hugaboom, 69, of Montrose, PA, died Saturday February 20, 2016 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was predeceased by his parents, Albert and Ruth Hugaboom; mother-in-law and father-in-law, RJ and Olga Dickerson; nieces, Chrissy and Sarah; and brother-in-law, Brian Dickerson. He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Joanne Hugaboom; his sons, Mark (Leigh Ann) Hugaboom, Daniel (Corrie) Hugaboom, Jeffrey (Lisa) Hugaboom; grandchildren, Jake and Miya; Benjamin and Nicholas, Cailyn, Nate, and Jacqlyn; brother, Al (Barbara) Hugaboom; and sister, Darlene Carter. Also survived by his Dickerson Family, Bob (Mel), Jim (Sue), Tim (Rosemary), Sue (Sawyer), Tom (Karen), Matt (Liz), and Paul (Monique). Gary retired from NYSEG after 30 years of service holding management positions in Binghamton, Geneva, Ithaca and Kirkwood. He then resumed his career at Lockheed-Martin retiring for good in 2011. He formed many lasting friendships throughout his career. He was "One of the Good Guys." Gary was a Vietnam Veteran proudly serving in the US Marines. He was a loyal fan of the NY Mets and Washington Redskins. Gary enjoyed golfing achieving a Hole-In-One on #7 at C.P.C. on 10/17/2011. He also enjoyed boating, gardening, daily hikes with his K9 buddy, "Cocoa," a good whiffle ball game, Moxie's, Cacciatore's, Stella Artois and J. Lohr Cab. His greatest accomplishments and source of pride was being a husband and Dad, lovingly mentoring and coaching his sons, their friends and his extended family throughout their academic athletic and professional careers. "TO SAY HE WAS LIKEABLE WAS AN UNDERSTATEMENT!" A Funeral Mass will be offered at St. Thomas Aquinas Church, Highland Ave., Binghamton on Wednesday at 11am. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Johnson City. The family will receive friends at the J.A. McCormack Sons Funeral Home, 141 Main St., Binghamton on Tuesday from 4-7pm. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in memory of Gary may be made to any charitable organization.
