Lawrence Tokarchik, 85 of Vestal, born February 25, 1930, died peacefully after a short illness on October 31, 2015. Larry is survived by his wife of 64 years, Jean; his children, Terry (Jayne) Tokarchik, Robert Tokarchik, Pat Tokarchik and Judy Knapp; as well as his special grandchildren, Danielle, Erin and Derek Knapp. He is survived by his sister, MaryAnn Whittemore; his nephews; and their families. He was a member of St. Vincent DePaul Blessed Sacrament Church, Vestal. Larry was born in Binghamton, NY to Simon and Mary Tokarchik, and he graduate from Johnson City High School class of 1948. After high school, Larry went on to play baseball for the semi pro New York Giants. He was a veteran, serving in the medical core of the U.S. Army. He retired from Broome County Highway and Engineering with 34 years of service. Larry loved all sports. He coached his sons and daughters, as well as many other young men and women in various softball and baseball teams for many years. He himself loved to golf, bowl, and of course, play ball. At the family's request, there will be no calling hours. Private burial will be in Slovak Catholic Cemetery.
