John J. "Jack" Cronin, 89 of Binghamton, died Thursday, October 15, 2015 at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital. He was predeceased by his wife, Mary Lou Cronin; an infant son, Thomas; his brother, Robert; and sister, Mary Jane. He is survived by his children, Peggy Cronin-Stein, John J. and Judy Cronin, Jr., Robert and Bernadette Cronin, Mary Beth and James Williams; his five grandchildren, Stephanie and Jimmy Flynn, Mary Jane Cronin, Andrew Cronin, Caitlin and Rachel Williams; and great-grandson, James Morgan Flynn. Jack was a life-long member of St. Thomas Aquinas Church, Binghamton. He was a retired Detective with the Binghamton Police Department, retiring after 22 years of service. After retirement he was a courier for Hinman, Howard & Kattell Law Firm and a security guard at the Binghamton Savings Bank. He was a graduate of St. Patrick's Academy Class of 1944 and a proud originator of Byron's Bobcats. He was a member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians and past president of the Binghamton Police Benevolent Assoc. and attended many of the P.B.A. Conventions. He was devoted to his wife, children and grandchildren. The family wishes to thank the staff of Susquehanna Nursing Home and Lourdes Seton 1 P.C.U. A Funeral Mass will be offered at St. Thomas Aquinas Church, Highland Avenue, Binghamton Monday at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Johnson City. The family will receive friends at the J.A. McCormack Sons Funeral Home, 141 Main Street, Binghamton Sunday from 1-4 p.m. Expressions of sympathy in memory of Jack may be made to the Binghamton Police Benevolent Assoc. 38 Hawley Street, Binghamton, NY 13901.
