Orton, Marilyn Anne Foster Binghamton: Passed into eternal rest on Monday, May 13, 2013 from respiratory distress and a long battle with diabetes. She was predeceased by her father Robert F. Foster in December 1969; her mother Joan F. Dorsey July 2000 & her step father Robert J. Dorsey in August 1992; her grandmother Margaret Titman September 2001; her uncle Rev. Charles Foster; her sister in law Carol Morrissette and her in-laws Dolyn & Simone Orton. She was also predeceased by her dog (daughter) Jenny Penny. She is survived by her husband of 37 years Robert A. Orton of Binghamton and her four children Shawn M (Raeannette Giles), Melanie A, Robert F. (Amy Harder) & Richard A. all of Binghamton, She is also survived by her grandchildren. She is also survived by her brothers Robert T. (Deborah) Foster, Lawrence C. (Lynne) Foster and sisters Carol J. (James) Guiton & Carla J. (John) Murphy, brother in law & sister in law Gary & Joan Orton of Walton, NY. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews David & Catherine Morrisette, Kimberly Morrissett, Sara, Ryan & Kyle Orton, Erica & David Adamek, Erin & Mark Weaver, Robert & Rose Foster, Christopher & Courtney Guiton and Sullivan & Alison Murphy. Also several great nieces & nephews. She graduated from Catholic Central High School and Broome Community College as a Registered Nurse. She worked for many years at Wilson & Lourdes Hospitals, BOCES School of Practical Nursing, Sheltered Workshop and Sullivan Park Health Care Center. She was a life long member of St. Thomas Aquinas. In 1997 she was commissioned as a lay minister in serving the youth of her parish. She was also a Lector, Eucharistic Minister, a member of the church's Folk Group & Choir, taught Religious Ed to the elementary and high school students of the parish, which she enjoyed immensely. She was a Girl Scout Leader along with her sisters and had her nieces in the troop. She enjoyed camping & knitting, she was also known as the "Slipper Lady". She will be missed by so many people. She was a wonderful wife, mother, sister, aunt & friend. A Funeral Mass will be offered at St. Thomas Aquinas Church, Highland Avenue, Binghamton Friday at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Johnson City. The family will receive friends at the J.A.McCormack Sons Funeral Home, 141 Main Street. Binghamton Thursday from 4-7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in memory of Marilyn may be made to the American Diabetes Assoc. 6390 Fly Rd., 2nd Floor, E. Syracuse, NY 13057.
