Obituary of J. David Kane

J. David Kane, of Binghamton, NY died on July 14th, 2015 after a brief illness. He was predeceased by his wife, Moira Alice Kane; his parents, Joseph and Mary Frances Kane; his brother, Philip Kane; brothers-in-law, Richard Siebert, Joseph and Paul Mooney; niece and nephew, Christine and Eric Krause; and dear friend, Rev. James Lowery. He is survived by his daughters, Susan and Peter Ronan, Karen and Kevin Bradley, Eileen and Todd Evans; his sons, Philip and Maria Kane, Daniel and Arlene Kane; his beloved grandchildren, Patrick and Mary, Michael, Colin and Matthew Kane, Paige and Vincent Evans; his sister, Michaela Siebert; his sisters-in-law, Sheila and Fred Krause, Paula and Berwin Darrow; brothers-in-law, Jack and Linda Mooney, Michael and Judy Mooney; his breakfast and golf friend, John Convertino; and many cherished nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and neighbors. David graduated from Laurel Hill Academy in Susquehanna, PA and St. Bonaventure University. He proudly served in the United States Army and was a 35 year IBM accounting employee. David was an avid sportsman and spent many happy hours on local golf courses. He coached both St. John's and St. Patrick's CYO Varsity basketball teams. When he wasn't coaching from the gym sidelines, he was in front of his TV in his favorite chair coaching NCAA basketball, San Francisco Giants baseball and Notre Dame Football. He was each grandchild's number one fan and always delighted in hearing of their accomplishments. David was a member of St. Patrick's Church in Binghamton and was a dedicated Sunday Mass usher. Sharing time and laughter with family was David's greatest joy. He will be deeply missed. The family would like to thank Dr. Stephen Paushter for his years of care and compassion. A Funeral Mass will be offered at St. Patrick's Church, Leroy St., Binghamton on Saturday at 11am. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Johnson City. The family will receive friends at the J.A. McCormack Sons Funeral Home, 141 Main St., Binghamton on Friday from 4-7pm.
