Obituary of Joseph F Conwell

Conwell, Joseph F. Joseph F. Conwell, 85 of Vestal died Tuesday morning July 24, 2012. He was predeceased by a daughter Eileen Conwell, his parents, Martha and Charles Conwell, a sister, Patricia Kieffer, and a brother, Charles Conwell. He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Beverly Fox Conwell, Vestal; his children, Joseph and Janet Conwell, Endicott, Maureen and Brian McMahon, Conklin, James Conwell and fiance Patty Marhac, Austin,Tx; grandchildren, Kara and Michael Paul, Matthew and Mary McMahon, Dennis and Gina McMahon, Kerrie and Mark Strong, Daniel and Rikki Conwell, Ryan Conwell and Katie Newell; great-grandchildren; Kendrick, Kylie, Braden McMahon, Elena and Chloe Paul, Kaelin McMahon, Connor and Colleen Strong, Holly Conwell; two brothers, James and Geraldine Conwell, Michael and Pat Conwell; a sister in law, Eleanor Conwell; several neices and nephews. He was a member of St. James Church, Johnson City and a U.S. Air Force Veteran of World War II. He retired after 25 years of service at IBM in Owego. Joe was a member if the Knights of Columbus Endicott Council 1839 and a member of the 4th Degree Assembly. He was a lector and active member at Blessed Sacrament Church. He enjoyed his summers at Forest Lake, PA with family and neighbors and his door was always open. In his earlier days he enjoyed dancing, bowling and golf. "Go Bills." The family wishes to thank the staff at Vestal Dialysis, Dr. Kahn, Dr. Pillar and Steve and Virginia Ng. A Funeral Mass will be offered at St. James Church, Johnson City Friday at 9:30 a.m. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Johnson City. The family will receive friends at the J.A.McCormack Sons Funeral Home, 141 Main Street, Binghamton Thursday from 4-7 p.m. Expressions of sympathy in memory of Joe may be made to Lourdes Hospice Program, 4102 Old Vestal Road, Vestal, NY 13850.
