Obituary of Alice McNamara

Alice Regina (Jeanie Haus) McNamara, RN, US Army Veteran 10/29/1926-05/23/2012 Alice McNamara passed peacefully on Wednesday, May 23, 2012 from Multiple Myeloma at Lourdes Hospital in Binghamton, NY. Born in Williamsport, PA to Madeline and Miles Haus, Sr., she grew up in Binghamton and graduated from St. Patrick's Academy. She entered the Army Nurse Corp as a cadet during WWII. She worked as a Nurse at State Hospital and City Hospital until 1956 when she took a 25 year hiatus to become a full time mother. She returned to nursing in 1981 at Lourdes Hospital, working for nearly two decades. She is predeceased by her husband, Frank; and siblings Marguerite, Mary, and Jerry. She is survived by her sister, Helen; sister-in-law Rosemarie; and brother-in-law Walt (Sally); 7 children: Carol, James, Joseph (Susan), Colleen, Brian (Vicki), Thomas (Peg), Daniel (Beth); 15 grandchildren: Kimberly, Dawn (Matt), Daniel, Meghan, Nicole (Mike), Shannon (Brendan), Allison, Molly, Myles, Kristin, Ryan, Keaton, Robert, Jeremy, and Duncan; great grandson Mason; and close friends Stacy and Pauline Lippincott, and Virginia McCarthy. She will be missed greatly by all. The family would like to thank Dr. Harris and his staff, the Willow Point staff, and the Lourdes Hospital and Hospice staff for their wonderful care of Alice. A Memorial Mass will be offered at the Church of the Holy Family, 3600 Phyllis Street, Endwell on Thursday, June 21, 2012 at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Johnson City. The family will receive friends at the Church of the Holy Family Thursday, June 21, 2012 from 9 a.m. until 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in memory of Alice may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, 26 Broadway, 14th Floor, New York, NY 10004. Arrangements are by the J.A. McCormack Sons Funeral Home, Inc., 141 Main Street, Binghamton. Published in Binghamton Press & Sun-Bulletin from May 27 to June 20, 2012
