Edith Shaw | Visit Guest Book Shaw, Edith Binghamton: Edith ("Edie") Shaw passed away peacefully on February 18, 2012, after a hard battle with illness, in the home she shared with her daughter and grandchildren. She was 85 years old. Edie was predeceased by her loving husband, Edward ("Red") Shaw. Edie was also predeceased by a brother, Allen MacBeth; and two sisters, Anita J. MacBeth and Marilyn (MacBeth) Ballard. Edie is survived by her daughter, Linda Dardis (Prusecki); and her grandchildren, Lauren Prusecki and Colby Prusecki, all of Valley Stream, NY. She is also survived by two brothers, Elwood ("Mac") MacBeth of Binghamton and James W. MacBeth, along with his wife, Karen, of East Amherst, NY. Edie is survived by a stepdaughter, Marilyn (Shaw) Stack of Binghamton; a son-in-law, Gary Prusecki of Schenectady; sister-in-law, Helen (Shaw) Payne of Binghamton; as well as her nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews who were very special to her. Edie worked for over 30 years for Spauldings Bakeries, Inc., Binghamton, until it closed its doors for business. For many of those years, she served as the Executive Secretary to the President of Spauldings. She also worked for many years for and retired from the former CAE Link, Kirkwood, where she was in charge of "Technical Publications", keeping technical and specification manuals current. Until three years ago, Edie worked as a poll worker for the Broome County Board of Elections. Edie had a cheerful smile and was always there to help a friend in her younger, healthier days. She and her husband, Red, used to love to dance together and always pleased a crowd with how beautifully they danced together. She was also known for her stylish outfits and love of clothes, jewelry, shoes, and Big Band music. She was an active member of the Ladies Auxiliary of Post 1645 of the American Legion, Binghamton, for many years, working the Sunday Bingo games and in the kitchen for events. She was also active in the Conklin Seniors group. She leaves a space no one else can ever fill. Memorial services for Edith and her sister, Anita J. MacBeth, who passed away November 23, 2011, will be held at the J.A. McCormack Sons Funeral Home, 141 Main Street, Binghamton, Saturday, April 14, 2012, at 11:30 a.m. Reverend Richard Schaal will officiate. Burial for Anita will be in Vestal Hills Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the McCormack Funeral Home Saturday from 11 a.m. until service time at 11:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in Edith Shaw's name to the Association for Vision Rehabilitation and Employment, Inc.
