Obituary of Anthony Riley

Anthony Riley | Visit Guest Book Riley, Anthony Vestal: Anthony "Tony" Riley, 71, of Vestal, died unexpectedly Thursday, April 26, 2012. He was predeceased by his parents, Thomas and Sarah Riley; his brothers, John and Peter Riley; sister Joan Sliter; mother-in-law and father-in-law Max and Betty Kane; and sister-in-law Arlene Kane. He is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Anne Riley, Vestal; his daughter and son-in-law, Cathleen and Marc Anstrom, Pittsford; his grandchildren, whom he adored, Eleanor Riley Anstrom and Maxwell Anthony Anstrom; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Mary and Jack Herrick, James Kane, Alice Riley, Smith Sliter and the Perrault Family; several nieces and nephews who were very close to him. Tony was a member of Our Lady of Sorrows Church, Vestal. He was born in England on December 8, 1940 and was an Altar Boy in England. His faith sustained him throughout his life. He was a retired manager at the IBM Corporation after 30 years of service. He was a member of the Vestal Elks Lodge #2508 B.P.O.E., the Knights of Columbus, and the Binghamton Golf Association. He was a U.S. Army Veteran stationed in Germany. He was an avid hockey fan and loved golf. Tony was a gentle soul whose love and generosity to others never went unnoticed. His grandchildren were the sun and moon, and they will forever keep "Pa" in their hearts. A Funeral Mass will be offered at Our Lady of Sorrows Church, Vestal on Tuesday at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Johnson City. The family will receive friends at the J.A. McCormack Sons Funeral Home, 141 Main Street, Binghamton on Monday from 4-7 p.m. Expressions of sympathy in memory of Tony may be made to the Science Capital Campaign at Seton Catholic Central High School, 70 Seminary Avenue, Binghamton, NY 13905; or Catholic Charities of Broome County, Parenting and Adoption Program, 232 Main Street, Binghamton, NY 13905.
