James E. Moffitt Obituary
It is with much sadness to announce the passing of James Edward Moffitt on May 23, 2023. He was 95 years old. He was a life resident of Binghamton. He was predeceased by his parents, William and Matilda Moffitt, his brother William(Betty) Moffitt; his sister Agnes Jean (John) Cizauskas, his wives, Lena, Anne and Millicent and his daughter Julie Day. He is survived by his children, Thomas(Jean) Moffitt, David(Tricia)Moffitt and Kathi(John)Belcher; his grandchildren, Kasey(David)Kenworthy, Jarrett(Elizabeth)Moffitt, Hanna, Olivia, Aiden and Max Belcher, Arabella and Charlotte Moffitt; five great grandchildren, Gavin, Avery and Payton Kenworthy, Jarrett James and Elizabeth Joan Moffitt and by four nephews and three nieces.
He graduated in 1945 from St. Paul's High School, Binghamton, where he excelled in basketball and baseball. He served in the U.S. Army and retired from IBM after many years of various management jobs. He was an avid N.Y. Yankees fan and followed football, lacrosse and hockey. While retired, he traveled to New York City to visit his son David and family, Florida to visit his daughters Kathi and Julie and families and to Elmira to visit his son Tom and family.
Per his wishes, a private memorial service will be held at a later date with family members. In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to Ideal Senior Living Center where he resided in his last year. A special thank you to Rosie, Maureen, The Hearth. A very special thank you to Ideal Senior Living who were wonderful to him in his final days.
