Please share a memory of Stephen to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
9/24/1942 - 3/6/2015: Stephen Haust died peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family on March 6 having won the war with cancer. Steve is survived by his beautiful bride of 48 years and best friend, Mary (Denniston), son Stephen and wife Jenny of Baldwinsville, NY, daughter Kristen Lynch-Cerullo and her husband Bruce of Wakefield, MA, daughter Ami Dolan and her husband Tom of Reading, MA and daughter Tricia Callaway and her husband Aaron of Andover, MA. Steve is also survived by his great pride and joy, ten grandchildren; Ethan and Erich Haust, Regan and Sophie Lynch, Quinn, Macarthy and Tate Dolan and Lucas, Sasha and Davis Callaway. Steve is also survived by his loving sister Nanette Eno and her husband Richard of Pittsford, NY, brothers and sisters in law Patricia McPeak of Jordan, NY, Frank Denniston of Denver, CO and Raymond Denniston and his wife Ann of Windsor, NY, nieces and nephews and many dear friends. Steve was predeceased by his parents Floyd and Margaret Haust of Seneca Falls, NY and brother, Douglas also of Seneca Falls. Steve was born in Waterloo, NY where he stayed until moving to Binghamton, NY at the age of 14. Upon beginning his career in the electronic semiconductor sales business, Steve and Mary moved around some; making friends in Pittsburg, Cincinnati and Syracuse before returning to Binghamton to raise their family. Steve joined Tri Tech Electronics in 1979 as a partner and later retired from there in 2006 as the CEO and president having brought the company to new and unprecedented levels of success. Those who knew Steve know he had a few things he was passionate about; always his family, his hunting cabin, the great outdoors and the many adventures his passions took him on. Steve hiked the trails and mountains of Alaska, Newfoundland, Wyoming - you name it- there was no challenge too great. He went on several "once in a lifetime" trips hunting moose, grizzly and brown bear, caribou, sheep and elk. Steve was an avid outdoors man; hunting, fishing, and hiking and has passed this love on to his children and grandchildren. Whether it be the annual opening day hunt of deer season or just sitting on his porch listening to a baseball game on the radio with a cold glass of chardonnay, Steve found his home away from home in the great outdoors, particularly on his hill. In addition to his love of family, keen business sense and great love of the adventure, Steve will always be remembered for his larger than life sense of humor. Steve could light up a room, was often found holding court and usually had his family doubled over in laughter. He could turn it on like nobody else. He was silly and he knew how to have a good time and make sure those around him did too. Steve's family would like to thank the good people at Hematology Oncology Associates of New York and Lourdes Hospice for their extraordinary care of Steve, the person, and not just the disease. These professionals are truly serving in the vocation they were called to. We will always be grateful for their delicate care. Thank you to our angels on earth from Hospice. A Funeral Mass will be offered at St. Vincent DePaul Blessed Sacrament Church, Clubhouse Rd., Vestal on Tuesday at 10:30am. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Johnson City. Steve's family encourages attire in bright colors, yellow was his favorite. The family will receive friends at the J.A. McCormack Sons Funeral Home, 141 Main St., Binghamton on Monday from 4-6pm. Expressions of sympathy in memory of Steve may be made to Lourdes Hospital Foundation (Hospice) 169 Riverside Dr., Binghamton, NY 13905 or a charity of your choice.
