Robert E. Hardwick, 83 of Binghamton died Sunday, February 8, 2015 at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital surrounded by his loving family. He was predeceased by his parents, Bernice and Herbert Hardwick and grandparents, Frank and Katherine Gransbury who raised him in Deposit, NY; his sister, Nancy Brueggen; and his sister-in-law, Hazel Warner. He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Jean Taylor Hardwick; his children, Kevin and Debbie Hardwick, Tonawanda, Patricia and Anil Hira, Vancouver, BC, Mary and Brian Moroney, Jackson, TN., and Peggy Holmes, Johnson City; grandchildren, Aubrey and Greg Hill, Jeremy and Emilie Hardwick, Matthew Hardwick, Brian Hardwick, Benjamin Moroney, Kelly Moroney, Sarita Hira, Dylan Hira, and Sidney Holmes; three great-grandchildren, Kaile Peete, Julianna Hardwick, and Maximus Hill; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Joan Quinney, Ann Campbell, Dorothy and Tom Leonard, Ed Brueggen, and Lawrence Warner; and many close nieces and nephews. He was a member of the Church of Saints John and Andrew, Binghamton. He felt very fortunate to have such a great wife who was the love of his life and was very dedicated to her children and marriage. He was very proud of his children and grandchildren. He was fortunate to have a good job retiring from NYSEG after 38 years of service as Construction Manager of the Binghamton Line Dept. Bob spent much of his 21 years in retirement on the golf course with John, Ray and Gary. He was an Air Force Veteran of the Korean Conflict and a member of the NYSEG Quarter Century Club. A Funeral Mass will be offered at the Church of Saints John and Andrew, Vestal Avenue, Binghamton Thursday at 9:30 a.m. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Johnson City. The family will receive friends at the J.A. McCormack Sons Funeral Home, 141 Main Street, Binghamton, Wednesday from 4-7 p.m. Expressions of Sympathy in memory of Bob may be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, Western & CNY Chapter, 4043 Maple Rd., Ste. 105, Amherst, NY 14226.
