Elizabeth I. Eltz, 88, passed away Friday, November 21, 2014 with her daughter by her side. Betty is survived by her daughter, Kathryn and son-in-law Leonard MacClary; her granddaughters, Jessica (Scott) Whitney, Emily MacClary, Meredith MacClary and fianc Fintan Fleming, Jaclyn (Mark) Tanner; great grandchildren, Katelyn Whitney, Hudson and Bentley Tanner; sister, Ann Turonis; and special nieces and nephews, Mary (Gene) Anderson, Linda (Roger) Clark, John (Pam) Turonis and Joseph Turonis. She was predeceased by her husband, Jack, in 1974; her parents, Wasyl and Anna Hordesky; siblings, Mike, John, Joseph, Steve, Emil, Mary and Vera. Betty grew up in Carbondale, PA and upon graduation from beauty school, she moved to Binghamton. She was self-employed as a hairdresser and also worked for Broome County in the Audit and Control Department for many years until her retirement. Betty was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas's Altar and Rosary Society, and The Fatima Club, and began each morning reciting the Rosary. She was an avid reader and loved vacationing in Long Beach Island, NJ. Betty was happiest surrounded by family, we will all miss her warm smile and unconditional love. She truly was a kind and generous soul. At Betty's request, there will be no calling hours. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Thomas Aquinas Church, Binghamton. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
