Obituary of Joseph F. Karban

Joseph F. Karban, age 90, of Binghamton, died Thursday evening, November 13, 2014 at his home. He was predeceased by his wife of 62 years, Patricia Moran Karban; a daughter, Helen Ziebarth; and his parents, Joseph E. and Mary (Heidt) Karban. He was the loving father of Kathleen and Jerome Bevelacqua, Binghamton; Dr. Edward J. and Patricia Karban, Niantic, CT. His is also survived by his loving grandchildren, Julie and Christopher Salerno, Tracy and George Caezza, Sturges J. Karban, Stephanie and Benjamin Smith, Kyle and Debra Ziebarth, Kasie and Eric Sakovitch, Patricia Ziebarth; great grandchildren, Vanessa and Francesca Salerno, Anthony and Joseph Caezza; a brother, Retired Colonel Ludwig P. Faistenhammer, US Army, York, PA; two nieces and a nephew. He was a member of the Church of Saints John and Andrew, Binghamton. He retired from the Prudential Insurance Co. in Binghamton with 38 years of service. He had served on several UHS Boards including the UHS Foundation. He was a veteran of WWII serving in the US Army. Joe was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather and will be missed by his family and friends. The family would like to thank the many caregivers who provided loving care to Joe. A Funeral Mass will be offered at the Church of Saints John and Andrew, Binghamton, Tuesday at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Johnson City. The family will receive friends at the J.A. McCormack Sons Funeral Home, Monday from 5-8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in memory of Joe may be made to the Church of Saints John and Andrew Building Fund, 1263 Vestal Ave., Binghamton, NY 13903, or the Wounded Warrior Project, PO Box 758517, Topeka, KS 66675
