Obituary of Mary E. Battle

Mary Elinor Battle of Vestal, formerly of Endwell and Binghamton died Tuesday October 21, 2014 at her home after her courageous battle with breast cancer. She was predeceased by her parents Elinor and Gerard Battle, her maternal and paternal grandparents and her brother Gerard Battle Jr. She was born and educated in Scranton, PA at Scranton Central High School and Marywood College. She is survived by her daughters, Christine and Mark Macgargle, Brackney, PA, Susan Lacomis, Brooklyn, NY, Lynne Lacomis and Matt Garb, Staten Island, Amy and Stephen Smyk, Vestal; three sisters, Karen and George Weiss, Clarks Summit, PA, Elaine Battle, Media, PA, Elizabeth and Joseph D'Arienzo, Dunmore, PA; two beautiful granddaughters, Kara Smyk and Hannah Smyk; a nephew, George Weiss, Elmira. The family wishes to thank all her wonderful nurses, aides and Lourdes Hospice. A Memorial Mass will be offered at the Church of the Holy Family, 3600 Phyllis St., Endwell Saturday at 9:30 a.m. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Johnson City. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in memory of Mary may be made to Meals on Wheels of Western Broome, 705 W. Main St., Endicott, NY 13760 or the American Cancer Society, 13 Beech St., Johnson City, NY 13790.
