Obituary of Mary Anne Gowe

Please share a memory of Mary to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
A full and accomplished life filled with children, grandchildren, family, friends, tea parties and phenomenal flower gardens has sadly and suddenly come to an end. Mary Anne Osman Gowe, 71, of Vestal, passed away peacefully at her home Monday September 29, 2014. Mary Anne was born May 18, 1943 in Binghamton, NY and was the daughter of the late Charles and Anastasia Romanczuk Osman. She was predeceased by her husband of 50 years, Allan Elvers Gowe of Vestal, NY; two brothers, Richard C. Osman of Vestal and Joseph Osman of Binghamton; and a grandson, Kevin Andrew Gowe. She is survived by her three children, Cheryl and Christopher Gates of Fredericksburg, VA and their three boys, Brent and his wife Olga, Christian and Benjamin Gates; two sons, Stephen and Brenda Gowe of Vestal and their two children, Evan McHugh and Erin Catherine; Andrew and Tina Gowe of Vestal, NY and their two children Colin and Katelin Anna; and one great granddaughter, Brooklyn Ann of Fredericksburg, VA. Mary Anne is also survived by one brother, Donald C. and Phyllis Osman of Vestal, NY; and one sister, Francesca Osman Corea of Kirkwood, NY. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews that she loved dearly, and her devoted and heartbroken Border Collie, Casey. Mary Anne graduated from Vestal High School in 1961 and from Nursing School at the State University of New York in 1978. She retired from UHS after 30 years and there she met the most wonderful, supportive and loving group of friends whom she kept in touch with and cherished to this day! A devoted member of St. Vincent DePaul Church, Mary's faith provided her with much comfort throughout her life. She lived for her grandchildren and basked in each of their accomplishments and spoke of them often. They were the light of her life. Her beautiful flower gardens were enjoyed by all who visited or passed by her Bunn Hill home. If she wasn't busy baking phenomenal pies, she was creating incredible mosaic works of art. Mary Anne will always be known for her exquisite Victorian tea parties she hosted for her friends and family every year. Mary would surely smile down to see attendees at her memorial wearing beautiful tea party hats. A Funeral Mass will be offered at St. Vincent DePaul Blessed Sacrament Church, Clubhouse Road, Vestal Thursday at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Johnson City. The family will receive friends at the J.A. McCormack Sons Funeral Home, 141 Main Street, Binghamton Wednesday from 4-7 p.m.
