Obituary of Elizabeth F. Korenko

Elizabeth Korenko, "Betty Boop," 86, passed away on September 6, 2014 at Lourdes Hospital. She was predeceased by her parents, Eddy and Mary Gerdus; her former husband, Paul Korenko; her son, James Korenka; her son-in-law, Paul Caletka; and brothers, Michael and Bill Gerdus. She is survived by her daughter, Janice Caletka; her son and daughter-in-law, Jerry and Merina Korenko; her grandchildren, James Korenka, Matthew Caletka and Dawn Testa; brothers, Donald, Pat, Chuck and Gary Gerdus; and sister, Diane Casey; along with several nieces and nephews. Betty worked for many years at local restaurants, and retired from the Marriott Corporation in 2005. She loved to dance, and her energy was endless and contagious. She loved tending to her lawn, and those of her neighbors. The family would like to thank the staff at Susquehanna Nursing Home for the wonderful care provided to Betty. Funeral services will be held at the J.A. McCormack Sons Funeral Home, 141 Main Street, Binghamton Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. Reverend Msgr. John P. Putano will officiate. Burial will be in Spring Forest Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the McCormack Funeral Home Monday from 5-7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in memory of Betty may be made to the Alzheimer's Association , 225 N. Michigan Avenue, Floor 17, Chicago, IL 60610.
