Please share a memory of Ruby to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Ruby Jabo Pilotti, 89, of Johnson City, passed away peacefully on April 9, 2014 with her family at her side. As she left this world, the sun came out and "Amazing Grace" could be heard playing in the background. She was predeceased by her loving husband, Joseph F. Pilotti on April 19, 1996. She was also predeceased by her parents, Michael and Martha (Polansky) Jabo. Ruby is survived by her children Martha Pilotti-Gerty (John) of Greene, Laura Chestnut (Carl) of Chenango Bridge and Joseph M. Pilotti (Laurie) of Colorado; a brother Michael Jabo (Carol) of Vestal; and five grandchildren, Mariah and Michael Gerty, Amanda and Johnny Chestnut and Christopher Rhodes. Ruby was a graduate of RIT and Empire College majoring in Retail Distribution. Upon graduating from RIT, she studied Retailing in Mexico City. She then worked at McLean's Department Store as a Better Dress and Bridal Buyer. Ruby briefly left her career to marry Joe and raise a family. She then returned to work for the Department of Labor as an Interviewer, the Manpower Development and Training Center as an Instructor, BOCES as an Instructor of Distributive Education, then back to the Department of Labor as an On-The-Job Training Specialist before retiring and moving to Nokomis, Florida with Joe. Ruby was an active member of Trinity Memorial Church before moving to Florida. When she returned to this area, she became close to St. Mark's Episcopal Church. Ruby was a past president of the Binghamton Jaycees and IAPES; and was on the Board of Directors of the Binghamton YMCA. An avid reader, Ruby was also a talented and creative artist, very much attuned to the latest fashion; she enjoyed putting on elaborate dinner parties and traveling with Joe. Ruby had a wonderful smile. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. A memorial service is planned for May 10th, 10am at St Mark's Episcopal Church. People may greet the family at 10am; the service will begin at 11am. Burial will be in Vestal Hills Memorial Park.
