Obituary of Francis T. Lam

Francis T. Lam, MD, of Vestal, passed away early on April 4, 2014 after a long illness. He was 84 years old. Francis was born on June 8, 1929 in Malaysia, where he lived his childhood. He is one of seven children. He moved to Melbourne, Australia to pursue his education at the University of Melbourne. He received his medical degree and practiced briefly in Malaysia and England before moving to the United States. In 1970, he moved to Vestal, where he has lived since. In Johnson City, NY, he met his wife Mary and they were married in 1963. They have three sons, Daniel, Michael and Kevin. He was a member of St. Vincent DePaul Blessed Sacrament Church, Vestal. Francis worked as an anesthesiologist in Binghamton until his retirement at age 64. His interests included travel (he has traveled much of the world); outdoor recreation including fishing, walking and cross country skiing; and art. He was an accomplished painter, wood carver and enjoyed playing the violin. Throughout his life he was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He is survived by his wife, one brother, four sisters, three sons, two daughters-in-law, five grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. A Memorial Mass will be offered at St. Vincent DePaul Blessed Sacrament Church, Clubhouse Road, Vestal, Wednesday April 9 at 11 a.m. The family will receive friends at St. Vincent DePaul Blessed Sacrament Church Wednesday from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, please consider contributions to Loaves and Fishes Pantry at St. Vincent DePaul Blessed Sacrament Church, 165 Clifton Blvd., Vestal, NY 13850
