Obituary of Thomas L. Fitzgerald

Thomas L. Fitzgerald, 91, of Binghamton, died Sunday, February 16, 2014, at Wilson Memorial Regional Medical Center. He was predeceased by his parents, Daniel and Margaret Fitzgerald; his brothers and sister, Donald, James, and Raymond Fitzgerald and Margaret "Peg" Kelly. He is survived by a sister, Mary Sabitus, Vestal; two sisters-in-law, Theresa Fitzgerald, FL, Helen Fitzgerald, Apalachin; his nieces and nephews, Robert Fitzgerald, Mary K. Homan, Shirley Kelly, Daniel Kelly, Mike Sabitus, Joan Walsh, Jim Sabitus, Maureen Fitzgerald, Daniel Fitzgerald; several great nieces and nephews and his walking buddy, "Cody." He was a member of St. James Church, Johnson City, and a retired employee of the Binghamton Psychiatric Center. Tom had a strong work ethic. He was an avid BMets fan and a season ticket holder since the beginning. He was a member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians. The family wishes to thank the staff at Wilson Memorial Hospital and Lourdes Hospice. A FUNERAL MASS WILL BE OFFERED AT ST. JAMES CHURCH, JOHNSON CITY MONDAY AT 9:30 AM. Burial will be in St. Francis Xavier Cemetery, Friendsville, PA in the spring. The family will receive friends at the J.A. McCormack Sons Funeral Home, 141 Main St., Binghamton, Sunday from 2-4 p.m. Expressions of sympathy in memory of Tom may be made to Lourdes Hospice Program, 4102 Old Vestal Rd., Vestal, NY 13850.
