Obituary of Sara F. Moriarity

Please share a memory of Sara to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Sara (French) Moriarity died peacefully on the morning of March 19th, 2014 after a brief illness. Sara was married to the love of her life, Dr James J. Moriarity for 54 years. They lived their entire life together in Binghamton, NY and, for the past fifteen years, enjoyed winter months with their dear friends in Sarasota, FL. She celebrated her seventy-seventh birthday in the hospital with her family last Sunday. Sara loved St Patrick's Day, so it was no surprise to her friends and family that she waited to enjoy one final day of Irish revelry. Sara Moriarity loved life. She loved to be with family and friends and to laugh. As a friend, her greatest skill was her ability to listen and empathize. As a mother, her love was unconditional. Her children agree she was the most supportive person they have ever known. She is survived by daughters Kathy Kunsman, Susan (Tom) Wendell, Linda Pelletier, Barbara Downey, Eileen (Brian) Furguson and her son, Jim (Alison) Moriarity. While perfect as a mother, she was even more well suited to her role as grandmother. "Banny" or "SB" or "S" was adored by, and so loved, Eleanor, Jack and Megan Kunsman, Steven, Michael and Sara Wendell, Caroline, Jimmy, Michael and Matthew Moriarity, Nicole and Trey Pelletier and Lauren and Kevin Downey. She was a member of the Church of Saints John and Andrew, Binghamton. She was preceded in death by her parents, Margaret & Jack McKay French, her beloved sister Nancy (French) Flynn and her brother-in-law, Bill Flynn. A Funeral Mass will be offered at the Church of Saints John and Andrew, Vestal Avenue, Binghamton Monday at 10 a.m. Burial will be in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Johnson City. The family will receive friends at the J.A. McCormack Sons Funeral Home, 141 Main Street, Binghamton Sunday from 1-4 p.m. Expressions of sympathy in memory of Sara may be made to Seton Catholic Central High School Tuition Assistance, 70 Seminary Avenue, Binghamton, NY 13905
