Margaret E. (Margy) Hobart, 88, passed away on April 7, 2024, at The Mercy House of the Southern Tier. She is survived by her daughter, Bridgette Hobart Janeczko (Bob), and son James Hobart (Kim). She is also survived by her granddaughter, Casey Hobart, and niece and nephews Mary Eileen, Kevin, and Joseph O'Loughlin. She was predeceased by her husband, Richard G. Hobart, parents John and Edna O'Loughlin, brother and sister-in-law John and Joann O'Loughlin, daughter Meggan Hobart, and grandson Corey Hobart. She was predeceased by many beloved four-legged buddies. Margy was a graduate of Union Endicott High School and Robert Packer School of Nursing. She worked as an RN at Lourdes Hospital for many years and then for family companies - Security Optometric, Eyerock Performance Marine and Hobart Stone Dealers. Margy volunteered at various community events and when her daughters were grade school age, she was the girl scout leader. She enjoyed socializing with local, RV, boating and Binghamton Club friends. Margy enjoyed the lake life on Cayuga and then Seneca Lakes for years, and winters at Outdoor Resorts in Port St. Lucie, FL. The family would like to thank the care team at Brookdale Vestal West for their loving and compassionate care allowing Margy to live a purposeful, engaged life as her Leukemia and dementia progressed and partnering with Guthrie Hospice and the Mercy House for her final transition. Bridgette would like to thank Faye and Dave Stout for their never-ending support to both Bridgette and Mom during the last few challenging years, and especially in her final few days. A Funeral Mass will be offered at St. Paul's Church, corner of Chenango and Robinson Streets, Binghamton, Saturday April 13th, at 11 a.m. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Johnson City at a later date. The family will receive friends at the J.A. McCormack Sons Funeral Home, 141 Main Street, Binghamton, Saturday from 9 to 10:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions in memory of Margy be sent to The Mercy House of the Southern Tier, 212 N McKinley Avenue, Endicott, NY 13760.
