Obituary of Margaret M. Griffiths

Margaret "Peg" Moran Griffiths, 86, passed away peacefully on July 14, 2023. She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Thomas H. Griffiths, her children, AnnMarie (David) Winfield, Wayne, PA, Tom Griffiths, Conklin, NY, and Alyce (Patrick) Moriarty, Potomac Falls, VA, and her grandchildren, Drew, Sam, Rachel and Bridget Winfield, and Kyle and Keelin Moriarty. She is also survived by her brother, William F. (Carol Ann) Moran, Raleigh, NC and many nieces and nephews who knew her as Aunt Peggy. She was predeceased by her parents Frank A. and Alice McHugh Moran, and her brothers Francis and Arthur Moran. Margaret is a graduate of Marywood Seminary and obtained her Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Elementary Education from Marywood College and was certified as a Reading Specialist. She taught for many years in the Susquehanna Valley School District at Cedarhurst Elementary School. She took pride in helping hundreds of students learn to read and seeing their later successes. She was a long-time member of Saints John and Andrew Catholic Church, serving as a Eucharistic Minister and was a member of several committees, including serving funeral lunches and working at the food pantry. A Funeral Mass will be offered at the Church of Saints John and Andrew, Vestal Avenue, Binghamton, Tuesday at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Johnson City. The family will receive friends at the J.A. McCormack Sons Funeral Home, 141 Main Street, Binghamton, Monday from 5 to 7 p.m. and on Tuesday at the Church of Saints John and Andrew from 9:30 a.m. until 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation or the March of Dimes.
