Obituary of Edward T. Burke

Edward Burke, 91, of Johnson City passed away on January 15th, after a brief illness. Edward was predeceased by his wife, Joan Lake Burke; parents, Ed and Winifred Burke; brother, Ambrose (Virginia) Burke; sisters, Catherine (Ed) Dougherty and Winetta (Paul) McGavin; nephews Joe Dougherty , Danny McGavin and niece Kathleen Dougherty; and his long time friend Joan Bisher. He is survived by his sister Regina Graham; nephews, Jerry (Gail) Burke, Billy (Clara) Burke, Marty McGavin, Tim (Tracie) McGavin; nieces Patty Graham Beirne and Peg (Dave) Hellenga; as well as several great nieces and nephews. Edward was born in Meshoppen, PA. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, dancing, and was proud of his Irish heritage. Ed was an active member of the Church of the Holy Trinity, Binghamton. He was retired from IBM. Edward will be deeply missed by his family and friends. A Funeral Mass will be offered at the Church of the Holy Trinity, 346 Prospect Street, Binghamton, Friday at 12 noon. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Johnson City. The family will receive friends at the J.A. McCormack Sons Funeral Home, 141 Main Street, Binghamton, Thursday from 5 to 7 p.m.
