Mary L. Normile Obituary
Mary Theresa Lauretta Normile passed away peacefully on July 21, 2026, surrounded by her children.
She was predeceased by her loving husband of 35 years, Michael, in 1997. She is survived by her children Kevin, Kenneth (Patricia), Kelly and David (Sonia) and her grandchildren Paul Rudolph and Isaac Normile (Frank) as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was also survived by her lifelong friend, Ada Buffington.
Mary was born in Piercefield, New York. After graduating high school, she moved to Binghamton, NY to live with her sister and brother-in-law. She spent many years working at Woolworth's in downtown Binghamton. Mary was a long-time member of St. Patrick's Church. She received the Diocese of Syracuse Immaculata Award for volunteer service to the Catholic Church. She spent many years working as the cafeteria manager for St. Patrick's Middle School and later worked in the cafeteria at Seton Catholic Central High School. She volunteered to work in the church kitchen during church dinners and special celebrations. Her volunteer work also included Samaritan House in Binghamton and the CHOW pantry (Community Hunger Outreach Warehouse) of Broome County. She was an avid bowler and belonged to many leagues, winning many trophies and awards.
The family would like to thank the staff at Wilson Medical Center for their care and compassion. This made her last days more bearable.
A Funeral Mass will be offered at St. Patrick's Church, corner of Oak and Leroy Streets, Binghamton, on Monday July 27, 2026 at 11:00 am. Entombment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Johnson City. The family will receive friends at the church on Monday July 27, 2026 between 9:00 am and 10:45 am.
